My name is Alisa Stephens. I was born and raised in the Dallas area for the majority of my life. Just recently have I moved to Athens, Tx~and I truly love living in East Texas. The scenery is beautiful and I love all the pine trees. Quite a change from hi-rise buildings in Dallas.
I am a single mom of 4 beautiful children that are very supportive and proud of their mommy. My story begins in 1994 when I started playing around with Holiday decorations for my apartment. I was soon about to be a homeowner and couldn't wait to fill it up with craft stuff. Florals were sold at Coomer's Craft Mall in their prime years of business.
April of 1999 was the spark of my talents! We began manufacturing candles from my kitchen with just 8 fragrances. Home parties were a hit and decided to venture out to the shows for the first time. Quickly, my luxurious and fragrant candles were the talk of Rockwall~Hometime Candles was the name I assumed. Spring of 2001 I had my own shop and my customers' loved stopping by daily...never know what you might find!! I love being creative and try to work with what I have and desire to be different from the others. We had candles, goatmilk soaps, lotions, Holiday decor, gift sets, handmade signs...the works. But, it was rough with 4 small children in the back room. I took my business back home, then my marriage began to deteriorate.
Spring of 2005~following my divorce I changed many things in my life. My company name was one of the first...Simply Glowing Gifts was born. My mom and I came up with the name because it represents my new glow within myself (and my face) at my new found happiness. I was in an abusive marriage and I finally found myself ready for a change. That's where the bling came into play...I try to add sparkle to most of my designs to inspire other women to be beautiful, stay strong and....simply glow!! ....just as I did and have ever since!!
My mom and my grandmother help me with my business ventures, and some of the items featured here are their designs. They design the hats/scarves, pillows....I work on the jewelry, home decor, candles and everything else!! Look for us outside the Arbors at Canton Trade Days!!
